Writer's Block: Fellow Libras

Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, and Vlad the Impaler, the original Dracula, have the same birthday. Coincidence?
I don't know what amuses me more, the poor wording of the question or the fact that so many fail to read it properly in answering this question.

The question is about the Author vs Vlad Ţepeş aka Vlad III the Impaler aka Vlad Dracula (with the Dracula being inherited from his father who was a Dracul).

... and the original Dracula?!
Vlad the Impaler's father was Vlad Dracul or Vlad the Dragon. Thus Vlad the Impaler was Dracula or Son of the Dragon.

All we know of Vlad Tepes' birth is that it was somewhere around November or December 1431. Bram Stroker was born 8NOV1847.

So if we are going to try to stir some excitement from peons like this through birthdays that could be months apart then all I have to say is WOW.

General Zod: A Third Side Candidate

Repost from: http://purgingtalon.com/diabologue/?p=79

Those who have read my first book are well aware of my view on politics, particularly on the entirely pointless practice of presidential voting. History has shown us that the people need their bread and circuses, so I gain some perverse amusement in the whole charade. And since it’s all a joke, why not throw in a candidate that would actually bring some real change, albeit in a brutal and totalitarian way: General Zod! That’s right. ZOD! He has some rather unique and under-represented policies he’d like to enact, including ones involving Christmas, The Pledge of Allegiance, and the “return” of nobody’s favorite Christ-metaphor, Superman. See how he gets things done while in the Oval Office…

Writer's Block: Short Days

As the Northern hemisphere spins toward the shortest day of the year, it's getting dark earlier and earlier. What comforts do you fall back on when the days are short and the nights are long?
It's my favorite time of year.

What's better than strolling through the woods in a comfortable sweater, looking at the changing leaves, then returning to a fire and puffing a clove while sipping on some red wine (or maybe some hot chocolate) and cuddling to stay warm?

The reminisce of Tropical Storm Fay are over head right now and making flying a bitch.

Hurricane Gustav looks like it will ride just south of Cuba, this means that the land/buildings won't increase friction and obstruct the wind. It also means it will absorb more tropical moisture from the water and grow. It will be a respectable storm, unlike Fay. As such I will be filling my gas tanks in both vehicles today/tomorrow and recommend anyone else in the south to do the same because as soon as they catch wind that all the major gas points along the gulf will be shutting down, the prices will be going up again. Probably in about two days.

Currently, some of the computer models are pointing it straight for New Orleans, but this will NOT be advertised this early. Particularly not for this area. That's the media for you...

Here are all the tracks the models have given:

Here is the latest track with the best animation I could do and still be able to upload to imageshack.
